You've said that if someone has a dream catcher for decoration that's cultural appropriation, but someone buying a statue of Jesus for decoration is fine? Hypocrite much?I don't disagree with you necessarily about someone having a dream catcher, but I can definitely see a difference. Nobody is trying to oppress (or at least really has the power to oppress) the Catholic population. The native culture is hanging on by a thread.

Sure, authoritarianism is increasing on both sides, probably in relation to either the actual or perceived increase from "the other side". That said, authoritarian right wing nationalism, fascism, is only moving towards the mainstream on the american right. The american left is lukewarm-to-traitorous in their commitment to authoritarian left wing socialism. Buncha fuckin part time commies.
In the literal sense, I probably am misusing it.
But I'm trying to draw an analogy-- I think the left has stopped being a description of people with certain values, and become a nation of people who display certain membership tokens: fashions, catch words, and the smugness of knowing they are "right" without ever expecting to form a rational defense of their views. That's the analogy I'm trying to draw, and explicitly so.
