how homophobic is it where you are

I'm from Istanbul Turkey. And even in Istanbul (maybe with exception of few neighbourhoods) being open about homosexuality means you won't have a life (not in literal sense) and in eastern parts of Turkey it IS in literal sense.

i heard younger people in turkey or istanbul were more accpeting duno if thats true

This is true for Istanbul and Western shore and maybe(centre of Ankara) but for most of the parts it's still a huge Taboo. But for majority of people Active homosexuality is not considered as being homosexual.
