They're being vaccinated against diseases that seemingly pose little threat, because when we get too complacent, there's a good chance that outbreaks are going to happen among those who aren't. I know this because it happens alarmingly often in America. This is not just some Chicken Little "sky is falling" shit, it's a phoenomenon that's documented. Hell, it happened in Samoa less than a year ago on a NATION-WIDE SCALE. A bit less than 3 percent of the population got a disease you blithely dismissed as “no longer a threat” because parents stopped vaccinating their kids. It was enough to create a state of emergency on the islands, including a quarantine system not unlike the ones we're living under with COVID. Eventually, most of the unvaccinated population got vaccinated, and the epidemic abated. So, to recap, on a nation-wide level, parents stop vaccinating their kids for a disease that's easy to prevent with vaccines, said disease makes a HUGE comeback, and the crisis is solved by vaccinating those who neglected to get theirs beforehand. And all this happened less than a year ago. And I Would Like To Think This Was Only A Matter Of Chance.
And that's going to keep happening until the diseases are eradicated, and, alas, that's only happened with Smallpox and Rinderpest so far, although polio is on the brink of eradication (though it has been so for a while.) Or you can just keep spreading your bullshit and maybe, just maybe, enough people will listen to your horseshit that you’ll get to witness an outbreak of one of those diseases that are “no longer a threat.” If you’re really lucky, you’ll get to see a repeat of Samoa.
