And I know there will be a lot of "yeah, butt!" posts. Please prove your points.
It smells pretty bad, but shit is actually pretty useful and indeed necessary.
Cow / horse / chicken manure are all commonly used as fertiliser for crops / plants, by farmers, gardeners, hobbyists etc.
Ive even heard of people using bat shit to grow cannabis, apparently its common. "Bat Guano" is bat shit which has decomposed over 100s of years, producing an odourless fertiliser, especially rich in phosphorous. This is beneficial for plants, especially ones which flower.
Shitting is one major mechanism of how elements are returned to the earth for re-use - in the example above, new crops and plants grow using the nutrients they drive from the manure.
If elements were not returned to the earth in this fashion, then there would be a constant drain on their natural levels which would ultimately lead them to be depleted. Then the earth would be barren and we could not grow anything, which would be pretty 'shit' lol.
I am an engineer and once visited a water works / sewage plant where they put sewage through a large centrifuge and then dried the cake (shit) they were left with. This was then pelletised and packaged and can be sold as fertiliser or even for use as fuel.
So, shit is not just necessary but valuable even!
