People who underwent cataract surgery to remove the lenses in their eye balls gains the ability to see in UV. This is because human retina is sensitive to UV, but the lens in the eye, while transparent to visible light, is opaque to UV, so UV in normal eyes is blocked by the lens from reaching the retina.
