In the context of the original post, it is still armchair quarterbacking. It is easy to say what you would want to do, vs what you actually do in the real life face to face situation.
Even in the case of the D-Day invasion, you had guys that would hide behind cliffs and rocks and do nothing, and you had others whom would shoot unarmed Germans in the back trying to flee and retreat.
It is impossible to say what an individual will do in an event of stress. You can only blame the perpetrator who started the event.
