Nor here, even though we have a great deal for which to be thankful imo.
My mum was born in Vancouver. It was she who insisted we have turkey for Xmas. Also cranberries which came from Canada, in a jar. They weren't available here at that time. Mum was the only one who liked them. I slowly acquired a taste.
Dad bought our first turkey home alive and presented it to mum. He was told to kill and dress it. Forgot to tie its legs. Bloody thing ran around the yard with no head. I was fascinated.
To this day, I still prefer chicken, but have turkey on Xmas day because my sis likes it.
One of the few American style things I make is sweet potato/butternut squash pie. I kind of invented it as I went along. Turned out OK. It's really pretty hard to fuck up.
