These shits are always wrapped in the same package. It's what you get when you vote for a "conservative."
He's actually speaking the truth. The UK's head of state is a monarch, who holds that her (and her family) were chosen by the Christian God to rule the country. The national religion is Church of England, which is a denomination of Christianity. There are 12 bishops as permanent (unelected) members of the House of Lords. I could go on...but I think it's pretty obvious that the idea of "secularism" as it is properly defined means nothing in the UK, and the UK is in fact a Christian country, much as Israel is a Jewish country, and Iran is a Muslim country.
I of course disagree that it should be seen as a Christian country, but as to what Cameron said; it's all factually accurate.
I see what you are saying but it gives the impression that christians have priority and gives christianity too much credit for morality.

It's Christian in name only Tiberius.
David Cameron is a "committed" but "vaguely practising" Christian? Come on, that's an oxymoron. ![]() "Great spirits have often encountered violent opposition from weak minds." Technically, he is correct: England is technically a country that is historically Christian, 71.6% of Britons identify as Christian (no matter how rarely they may attend Church), and in order to ascend to the throne, one must be okayed by the government-sponsored Church. We can all debate the utility of a government-sponsored Church (no matter how milquetoast it may be), or even a monarchy, but the fact remains that he's technically correct.

Time to flush the church of england and the monarchy down the loo.
Strangely enough, whenever I hear words like 'committed' and 'vague' I instantly think of Cameron, the thinking man's nonentity. Actually I think his speech might have been a thinly veiled atheist message - compare this:
Quote:the prime minister called for a revival of traditional Christian values to counter Britain's "moral collapse". with this: Quote:"But what I am saying is that the Bible has helped to give Britain a set of values and morals which make Britain what it is today."
At the age of five, Skagra decided emphatically that God did not exist. This revelation tends to make most people in the universe who have it react in one of two ways - with relief or with despair. Only Skagra responded to it by thinking, 'Wait a second. That means there's a situation vacant.'
