Fear of death
#31
RE: Fear of death
To quantify my vote, Beyond being a Christian, the more I examine the concept of death the less sense it makes. I once blew someone's mind by arguing that humans are a race of vampire zombies, but not in the classic Hollywood depiction.
I do not know what heaven is like, or what will happen after passing. As I have no control over that I don't worry about it. My life is a passage between point A the bed I was born in to point B the bed I (with luck) will die in. Between those points is the part I have control over and will therefore live it to the best of my ability. Albert Einstein said, only a life lived for others is a life worth while, that's true and it also makes your life more enjoyable.

To Welshcake, without going in to detail I can sympathise . The following have helped me at times, I hope you don't consider them to trite.

Your not mad, the world is.

If your walking through a shit storm, keep walking, there is always a break.

Fuck the past, tomorrows the future.

Every generation thought the world would end with them , they where wrong, we are still here.

In any situation look for the joke, finding it makes it easer to get through. But don't smile at funerals.

Keep your mind busy, don't dwell on the past.

If the problems with your mind, the solution is in your mind you have just got to find it.

A slave is only a slave so long as he thinks he is a slave.

And most important of all. Fuck it, I will worry about it some other time.

So he dragged everyone back from the void with an ultimatum: 'Love me or burn in Hell'? People who were now brought back and reject him get to die all over again and/or be tormented forever in the lake of fire?

I fail to see the cause for celebration.

Quote:Yes I have a fear of the way you look at death,
You cling to the sinking ship that is the "SS Existence" not realising that the state of death is far more profound and simple than any God. I wouldn't wish the gift, no, the burden of eternal life on anyone. They'd go raving mad after a few million billion trillion years.

Quote:The next life I will have is one of no pain, trouble, fear, sickness or anything bad.
And how is this a response to my thoughts on the afterlife? I told you, I don't want to live forever, one life-time is enough.

They have been, and they will be again. Misery is a fact of life I'm afraid.

Quote:Have you talked to a professional about your feelings, because you seem depressed to me
Yes, its faulty genetics. I inherited Asperger's syndrome, autism and personality disorders from both my mother and father that often lead me on downward spirals to self-hatred. Its a vicious cycle that repeats.

Quote:I'm getting slightly concerned.
So what? Naturally, we've evolved, so you're "programming" to feel that way and be pro-life.

Why can't I cherish life only because its finite and eagerly anticipate my death whenever and wherever it comes? Because it scares you?

No I was worried that you might decide to do yourself in, if your cycle of misery and self loathing continues. Not scared, but concerned for you - that's just the way I am.

I'm sorry I bothered.
You are currently experiencing a lucky and very brief window of awareness, sandwiched in between two periods of timeless and utter nothingness. So why not make the most of it, and stop wasting your life away trying to convince other people that there is something else? The reality is obvious.

RE: Fear of death
I do not believe theists' [or religion'] claims of an afterlife - to me, I found theists' belief of an afterlife is preposterous and wishful thinking. [no offense intended]. It's very depressing to think about my death.

I'd like to be immortal though by science means.

Life itself is about dying so why would christianity ignore what is going to come eventually, christianity gives believers hope and that hope leads to eternal life. Let me make a suggestion, if you will carefully study scripture and I do mean carefully you will find that scriptures teach that sin is what brings the fear of death. Christ was sent to defeat death (and he did) and in that we have forgiveness of sin and in forgiveness we have eternal life. So you see christians need not fear death, most of us do have a fear of how we'll die.

You lie. You feed off the fear of the ignorant and wallow in a fabricated delusion of moral superiority through shared identity. You are virtual addicts to a viral meme more dangerous than any drug. Yours is nothing but a death-worshiping cult selected by the power structure to perpetuate the divine entitlement of the king. Caesar. Paul did not conceptualize the Christ to defeat death, but rather to embody Holy Spirit and preserve the soul of Judaism, which is YHWH.

All of which is going to come to you at the threshold of eternity; because you do not know scripture, rather you fabricate script and preach it from the pulpit. Like this, which is sermon that does not parallel the reality of my experience, where Christians are joyless, miserable; and lost.

As to the OP, I am other. It was my intention to post as my nobody self, when I read the words of this nobody proudly flaunting his ignorance of identity by preaching Christianity.

And I am restored to the identity of emergent demigod Lucifer. That's what I got from scripture, complete local understanding that their lies feed my truth - prince of lies - the potential for real science from this chemical reaction of Christian catalyst to the emergent Johnny Cantor exists in simulation and the likelihood of electromagnetic communication.

What Lucifer does is bring the light; in today's age that translates into science while I translate into living observational data. I am relatively Average Joe that responds to their viral meme with evolved antivirals most likely translated from me through pheromone or electromagnetics.
I do not fear that which does not exist. I am that I am - (a testimony to the non-existence of death, asshole) - show me the science where I am is dead, I may be tempted to consider your hypothesis.

I prefer evolution. Emergent simulation of mind of another in mind. That is where fear of death originates, that is the fear willfully propagated by cults like Christianity for their own profit, that is the lie of the Average Joe that gives me unnatural identity. I expect the next couple of years will continue to evolve this naive philosophy into testable scientific hypothesis.

Oh. Simulation of mind of another in mind also explains scripture. What is being preserved is the simulation of the mind of the prophet while he lived with Holy Spirit. To be Average Joe and potentially attain vision of Lucifer from scripture, consider your mind of another to be DVD drive, any book of prophet image of disk; upload, and you just might get a Revelation. Boy, what book have you been reading to say Paul did not see Jesus as the resurrection and new life. Why not read in Paul's letters to the ians where he speaks multiple times on the resurrection of the dead in Christ, try 1st Thessalonians. Lucifer was an angel of light, after his fall he's the father of lies and darkness, prove me wrong through the scriptures. From one who has experienced God for many years and have yet found Him to fail on His promises.
God loves those who believe and those who do not and the same goes for me, you have no choice in this matter. That puts the matter of total free will to rest.

Asshole. I am Lucifer. If I wanted to prove something to you, I'd spin up a simulation in my head, stick it in your head, and you'd be my bitch.

Any questions?

In a way, we are immortal through science. I see it through the Schrodinger wavefunction and superposition; but I see myself as nothing more than a piece of software. Wink

When the fires of your realm consumeth me, I shall not scream out in agony, but in ecstasy that your essence surroundeth me and entereth my vessel. Finally I shall be whole, as one with thee.

LoL... I'm a dork, I know.
