The Sydney Morning Herald did an article about Melinda Tankard Reist, she is an feminist, anti-porn activist, who happens to be an Evangelical Christian.

This is an interesting bit from it "She recalls one 15-year-old boy she interviewed who told her he looked to porn as a way to figure out how sex works. When he'd tried to act out what he had seen online in real life, he was surprised to discover that girls didn't like it. "Here we have a teenage boy who is using pornography as a sexual handbook. What hope is there for his natural sexuality to develop when he has been trained in hard-core misogyny?"

Well, I can confidently say if that boy was obsessively reading the bible instead of porn. He would encounter a whole view of women which basically treats them like they at the very least second rank people and at the very worst as property.

The boy would encounter plenty of verses in 1 Corinthians 11 & 13, 1 Timothy 2, 1 Peter 2, Colossians and Ephesians 5 stating that women must be submissive to their husbands, forbidden to teach or preach to at least in front of men, not to mention to cover their heads and remain silent in church and just is the New Testament. The Old Testament is even worse.

For some reason, that 15-year old guy reminds me of Christian Weston Chandler and how his knowledge of sex seems to have come solely from hardcore porn. : Here's some more info (warning: Link not safe for work or mental health.) But even then, he gets it even more wrong: As a result of studying only the female half of porn, he has invented a sex position called "The Missionary Cowgirl." He seems to think a girl will get off to a brutal tit-fucking followed by a load of semen to the face, which he then will lap off; also, he thinks electric shocks to the genitals are sexy. This is not so much something he finds arousing, as something he assumes other people do.

I have had a look at the CWC wiki and honestly that site is quite disturbing.

So we can thank religion for fucking up the pro-creative sexual lives of heterosexual males?

No exactly, however Melinda Tankard Reist believes that the Gospel can help these screwed up heterosexual males, I disagree.

Although I do believe the way sexuality is portrayed in the popular culture is a inversion of portrayal of sex as dirty and shameful which has been characteristic of western Christianity for centuries. Freud popularized this whole psychological mindset in the Madonna-whore complex.

If sex weren't always portrayed as so dirty, shameful, and sinful, then maybe that 15 year old kid would have had other avenues with which to learn how to have sex other than trying to learn from watching porn. But the thing which is funny here is that this kid would have tried to find out from somewhere how to have sex, even if porn wasn't available. If nothing were available, and no porn, then what? Fucking a cantaloupe?

Anyway Melinda Tankard-Reist is a Evangelical Christian who attends a Baptist church in Canberra. However she rather not admit that in public, also recently she has taken down all references to her religious views on her facebook page.
