Obama: Jesus would back my tax-the-rich policy
Quote:"For me as a Christian, it also coincides with Jesus's teaching that for unto whom much is given, much shall be required," Obama said, quoting the Gospel of Luke.
Time to watch some neo-con heads "asplode" from doubletalk!

Uh oh, I can already hear the cries of "blasphemy" from the religious right. Just wait till Pat Robertson and his prosperity gospel hears about this.

That's an outrageous statement in my opinion. It sets a dangerous precedent when a national leader starts to think god is on his/her side!
The truth may be puzzling. It may take some work to grapple with. It may be counterintuitive. It may contradict deeply held prejudices. It may not be consonant with what we desperately want to be true. But our preferences do not determine what's true - Carl Sagan

I agree no one should use religion in any political discourse. Just like GWB did when saying God told me to end the tyranny in Iraq. His daddy also said while president we were doing "gods worK" in Somalia.
Still Obama is just pandering to religious folk, its election season baby!

True, but I'm glad Obama is using Christianity
against the republicans. I want them to
wish their president was atheist.
"Sisters, you know only the north; I have traveled in the south lands. There are churches there, believe me, that cut their children too, as the people of Bolvangar did--not in the same way, but just as horribly. They cut their sexual organs, yes, both boys and girls; they cut them with knives so that they shan't feel. That is what the Church does, and every church is the same: control, destroy, obliterate every good feeling. So if a war comes, and the Church is on one side of it, we must be on the other, no matter what strange allies we find ourselves bound to."

I have to agree with double atheist on this one...it isnt like Obama is claiming that God talks back to him. He is merely pointing out the more humane bible verses.
The goal is the right direction...but sadly, in America, you have to talk the mythology sometimes to get attention.

As opposed to them thinking he's a secret Muslim.

Here's a good article on Republican Jesus:
