Send me to a burning pit while suffering in agony for all eternity just for not being Jesus's friend?

Heaven is described as the bible;
"And the four beasts had each of them six wings about [him]; and [they were] full of eyes within: and they rest not day and night, saying, Holy, holy, holy, Lord God Almighty, which was, and is, and is to come. And when those beasts give glory and honour and thanks to him that sat on the throne, who liveth for ever and ever, The four and twenty elders fall down before him that sat on the throne, and worship him that liveth for ever and ever, and cast their crowns before the throne, saying, Thou art worthy, O Lord, to receive glory and honour and power: for thou hast created all things, and for thy pleasure they are and were created." (Revelation 4:8-11) Eternity of falling down before him, as he sits on the throne (?! God needs to sit down? For what? To have a bit of a rest?) surrounded by beasts "full of eyes within" saying holy holy holy for ever and ever. Maybe we are scared of heaven.. it sounds shit.
Self-authenticating private evidence is useless, because it is indistinguishable from the illusion of it. ― Kel, Kelosophy Blog
If you’re going to watch tele, you should watch Scooby Doo. That show was so cool because every time there’s a church with a ghoul, or a ghost in a school. They looked beneath the mask and what was inside? The f**king janitor or the dude who runs the waterslide. Throughout history every mystery. Ever solved has turned out to be. Not Magic. ― Tim Minchin, Storm
My favourite quotable nonbeliever again:
Quote:The doctrine of eternal punishment is in perfect harmony with the savagery of the men who made the orthodox creeds. It is in harmony with torture, with flaying alive, and with burnings. The men who burned their fellow-men for a moment, believed that God would burn his enemies forever. Quote:The doctrine that future happiness depends upon belief is monstrous. It is the infamy of infamies. The notion that faith in Christ is to be rewarded by an eternity of bliss, while a dependence upon reason, observation and experience merits everlasting pain, is too absurd for refutation, and can be relieved only by that unhappy mixture of insanity and ignorance, called "faith." What man, who ever thinks, can believe that blood can appease God? And yet, our entire system of religion is based upon that belief. The Jews pacified Jehovah with the blood of animals, and according to the Christian system, the blood of Jesus softened the heart of God a little, and rendered possible the salvation of a fortunate few. It is hard to conceive how the human mind can give assent to such terrible ideas, or how any sane man can read the Bible and still believe in the doctrine of inspiration. Quote:We are satisfied that there can be but little liberty on earth while men worship a tyrant in heaven. Quote:Christianity has such a contemptible opinion of human nature that it does not believe a man can tell the truth unless frightened by a belief in God. No lower opinion of the human race has ever been expressed. Quote:Nothing could add to the horror of hell, except the presence of its creator, God. While I have life, as long as I draw breath, I shall deny with all my strength, and hate with every drop of my blood, this infinite lie. and among my Top Ten Quote:Strange but true: those who have loved God most have loved men least. Quote:The doctrine of eternal punishment is the infamy of infamies. As I have often said, the man who believes in eternal torment, in the justice of endless pain, is suffering from at least two diseases -- petrifaction of the heart and putrefaction of the brain.
At the age of five, Skagra decided emphatically that God did not exist. This revelation tends to make most people in the universe who have it react in one of two ways - with relief or with despair. Only Skagra responded to it by thinking, 'Wait a second. That means there's a situation vacant.'

But it is just god heaping even more torment and suffering upon the earth, and apparently for no good reason other than he's a cunt. If you're not supposed to ride faster than your guardian angel can fly then mine had better get a bloody SR-71. RE: Play it safe

Not only that but it's meant to be the way things will turn out at some obscure future time, as if the end of the script has been leaked to us in advance. A revelation, you might almost say. What makes me laugh is the idea that this ostensibly all-powerful god is apparently unable to rewrite this script or even to come up with its own ad libs.

(Revelation 4:8-11) God loves having his ego stroked. The size of his ego is astonishing! You must worship and worship and worship and sing praise for all eternity or....burn for all eternity. Either way, you're going to hell. There is no choice in heaven or hell. It's do as I say or be harmed in the most horrific way. God is a malicious dictator. Can't see how anyone would want it to be true. The whole thing is about god having his ego stroked. What a total prick. If Jebus comes back, I'll burn him alive and record it.

Mankind's intelligence walks hand in hand with it's stupidity. Being an atheist says nothing about your overall intelligence, it just means you don't believe in god. Atheists can be as bright as any scientist and as stupid as any creationist. You never really know just how stupid someone is, until you've argued with them. Here's my favourite: What is some other God exists and has the same system set up? That would have rendered your efforts totally pointless
