In my prayers <3
RE: In my prayers <3
She's a Christian because something painful happened in her life and Christianity was there with effective placebo treatments for her pain. Now, in order to pretend that the pain is either gone or irrelevant, she 'praises' her make believe god and spends her every waking moment in prayer, which only keeps the placebo effect active, as it doesn't allow her the chance to think clearly.

But this thread is real, and I'm glad. It made me laugh very much. Thank you. Smile

Can we not just ignore this sort of troll? We engage them every time, and it never does a thing except add to fingertip callousing.

I see quite a bit of projection coming from Hunter. The first thing she tells us is how much we're in pain, etc, when it comes out that it's her own self who is in a lot of emotional pain. But the thing that annoys me about fundies is how they can be at their total worst, contributing nothing to society and even harming it, but the moment they pick up the bible and claim their love for Jesus, all of a sudden they're far better than the evil heathen atheists. I know religion has been using this as a tool for recruitment in jails, prisons, soup kitchens, and rehab centers for a long time, but the arrogance from these people is annoying.

I have a cousin who spent some time in prison, and while he was there got "saved." Now he thinks he's superior to anyone who wasn't "bathed in the blood of Jesus Christ." He's an insufferable fundie idiot, and I'm just glad I don't ever have to spend time around him or his family.

It's obvious that Hunter is using religion as a crutch at this point in her life, and I really hope she works out all her problems, but she'd better work on her own life before trying to convert those of us who don't need a crutch to get through each day. Frankly, my life is far happier now than when I was still religious. I'm not constantly neurotic about what things I'm doing might piss off God and send me to Hell. I no longer worry about what other people are doing, such as who they're having sex with. Nor do I any longer see our society swirling downward into a cesspool of sin. Plus I can now sleep in on Sunday guilt-free.

I do n't go over to Christian forums and try to tell them how deluded they are. I can tell what you are doing. You are trying to show us "god's love" to soften our hearts and draw us to Him, for without Him, we will go to hell. This is your rationalization or better yet your pastor's rationalization. Pastors tend to give their parishoners their interpretation of the bible rather than letting them come up with their own (see how this discourages independent thought?). You are trying to evangelize us by doing this, and we know this and see it as you shoving your beliefs upon us. We see a human, you sense God's work in what you do. These are two totally disparate views that clash. Can you see that? It also speaks to your totally ignorance of us that you say that we must somehow be lacking (sad, angry, etc) without God, because you can't concieve of people being happy without God/Jesus in their lives. But, just because you cant understand or can't concieve it without negative connotations doesn't mean that that view in your head, is true.

It's not.

I would not raise the "shield" you've taken up even if it proved itself to be something more than your own fantasy. I refuse to bow to your little tyrant, and I refuse to praise the same based on mythical narratives of it's constant predation of my fellow human beings. That's love. What you're babbling on about is petty wish fullfillment and a desire to deflect one's problems in life onto another rather than meet them face to face. Further, you can keep your dirty little thoughts to yourself. If you want to get on your knees and fantasize about me then knock yourself out, but don't tell me about it, because it's uncomfortable.

"Of all tyrannies, a tyranny sincerely exercised for the good of its victims may be the most oppressive. It would be better to live under robber barons than under omnipotent moral busybodies. The robber baron's cruelty may sometimes sleep, his cupidity may at some point be satiated; but those who torment us for our own good will torment us without end for they do so with the approval of their own conscience." -CS Lewis.

I often feel like I'm the evangelical's worst nightmare: A happy, well-adjusted, free-thinking atheist without any confusion about personal beliefs or has any personal problems that need Jesus as a solution.

If you’re going to watch tele, you should watch Scooby Doo. That show was so cool because every time there’s a church with a ghoul, or a ghost in a school. They looked beneath the mask and what was inside?
