What the 'best' operating system in a given situation is depends on the skill level of its user and its applications.

What works for me is not necessarily good for you too. And vice versa. I.o.w. there's no simple answer.

So I can't in all conscientiousness vote in that poll.

I voted for Linux, but the RHEL flavour is the best, IMO. I am addicting to it - for work purposes. At home its the same ol' windows for gaming purposes.

At work, Windows 7 (no choice) with Linux in a VirtualBox, development on Linux (native apps) and in JDK 6&7.
At home, Windows 7 & Linux, would like to get an OSX box.
Phone, iOS (work) and Android (home). I prefer Android.
Planning on getting an Android tablet at some point.

Started using Windows work work when we switched from DOS. Bought my first PC in 1999,using Win 98. This box and my laptop use win 7.( l love it ) My spare has Mint Helen, which I used as my main OS for a couple of months.

I consider myself computer semi-literate,so simply cannot discuss OS on any technical level. As a user, I prefer Windows. Had I used say Mac from the beginning, I'm sure I'd prefer that.
