Human evolution and fur
#41
RE: Human evolution and fur
You know, one of the problems with using fossilized bones is that there are a lot of assumptions made. In the 1840's the term dinosaur was coined from the Greek words for terrible lizard. We now know that dinosaurs have more in common with birds than lizards but the whole lizard image with scales and such has stuck in the imagination for far too long.

http://news.nationalgeographic.com/news/...e-biggest/

Quote:A newly discovered giant feathered dinosaur—a distant cousin of Tyrannosaurus rex—sported a fine down coat, making it the largest feathered animal known to have lived, scientists say.

Paleontologists already knew that some members of the group of dinosaurs to which T. rex belonged, called theropods, were feathered. But most of the known feathered dinos were relatively small.

The point is that we are arbitrarily assuming "fur" when the bones do not provide any substantiation. Far too many mistakes have been made in paleoanthropology by jumping to conclusions.

Now creatards assume all sorts of useless shit but they are, after all, fucking morons. We should be better than that!
