Sometimes I see a person's faith as the cause of what I see as 'the pendulum'. On one side of the pendulum we have their past. The darker that past, the higher the weight is on that side of the pendulum. When they convert, the amount of faith they have corresponds to how high that weight goes after you release it.

The most devoted Christians at my church are the ones with the darkest backgrounds for sure.

Actually I'm happy for him.

I don't believe in any of the rot of belief in god bringing him happiness, of course, but I can see the demonstrable secular changes that's gradually happening in his lifestyle, giving him ambitions for the future, and that's what really matters, hence why I'm happy for him.
