May your relationship survive your new legal status….

Should do Pappy! Big Grin It is more a FACT of legalities than anything else (which I maintain is what ;Same sex marriage is all about)

We have been together for 7 years. I see no reason TO marry other than legal, and for this I will do so as Zen can have "peace of mind" SHOULD (may whatever luck can prevent) anything happen to him. Such is our Western Civilisation based upon, and so we will work with it to circumvent it. Tongue

Take a glass of wine and a chill pill Tiberius...no one has an attitude here except you.

No you will not my dear young one. Love has a great DEAL to do with it (hence the seven years) but...legalities are to be observed...we are not at Utopia yet little one so just calm the fuck down kid,

Will post pics as they happen. Tongue

I don't think she's exploiting the government for benefits at all. Who says they're not in love? She stated her reasoning, only one of which had any inclination of benefits. You can't deny that marriage makes legal situations much more efficient.

P.S.

As far as Zen and I have been concerned...We have been more "married" than any bit of paper or religious ceremony or any govt doc / benefits could describe. Zen and I ACTUALLY CARE, what happens to the other, we are interested about the stupid mundane things that happen every day, whether or not the other has 'all that they need' to feel comfortable and happy, and the tiny little bits that smooth life's difficulties. Taxes and Government BS is just another obstacle to overcome and so (thank-you GOP et al) this is another "chess move" to secure the continuation of the other with the least amount of hassle...(thank you Westminster System of Government)

It's a question of whether or not you want a wedding of some sort or if you just want to make it 'legal'. If it's the latter, just pay the fee and get the paperwork filed... and done.

If you want to have some sort of wedding... well... all sorts of fun and shenanigans could be had.

Agreed. Tiberius, you really made that sound like she is only in it for the benefits. Can you elaborate on how you arrived at your conclusion?

We have been "married" in our hearts for a long time.

This will be a simple exercise in legalities so that in the event of me dying she will not be inconvenienced in anyway.

I.e the house would automatically pass to her. As it stands she has no legal entitlement to it.

Anyway, back to the subject in hand. I would personally want some sort of celebration; if for nothing more than creating a memory. Nakedness sounds good, but just be careful closing the register after you've signed it, Zen. I've seen those books, and the image of a flat worm springs to mind.

Weeeeelll It looks like the "Betazoid wedding" is off the books!!
Dodgy Bugger.

Still, there will be "peace of mind" that the 'Significant Other' is taken care of in the event of some unforeseen disaster.

THIS is what love is about, THIS is what we strive for, speed the Utopian ideal but at the moment, THIS is what we have to deal with

Reality Check here... Big Grin

I'm not the one constantly capitalizing words like "RIGHT" and then questioning whether I'd looked into something. I asked a simple question. You responded with the attitude.

Quote:No you will not my dear young one. Love has a great DEAL to do with it (hence the seven years) but...legalities are to be observed...we are not at Utopia yet little one so just calm the fuck down kid,
I'm glad love has to do with it. Your posts beforehand simply didn't reflect that (notably you saying that you are marrying "for Legal Reasons" and also that you don't need a husband because you are not a cow...not entirely sure where that even came from. Also, on the issue of attitude again, I'm not a kid. Kindly don't refer to me as one.

Mosrhun Wrote:I don't think she's exploiting the government for benefits at all. Who says they're not in love? She stated her reasoning, only one of which had any inclination of benefits. You can't deny that marriage makes legal situations much more efficient.
Well it certainly looked like it to me. She states she is getting married for legal reasons, I ask what they were, and she lists a load of government benefits. I wouldn't have raised the question if she hadn't specifically stated "for Legal Reasons" in the topic header, and then listed a load of benefits when queried.

gringoperry Wrote:Agreed. Tiberius, you really made that sound like she is only in it for the benefits. Can you elaborate on how you arrived at your conclusion?
Elaborated above.

Of course, if I'm wrong and they are marrying for love, then I congratulate them and send them my best wishes. However, the fact that Kichi stated "for Legal Reasons" in the subject set my suspicions going, and when I asked her what legal reasons they were, all she listed were government benefits to married couples. She further stated that she has no need of a husband since she is not a cow or domestic animal. I'm not entirely sure what she meant by that, since a husband has no relation whatsoever to those things.
