THE bid to host the world's largest radio telescope has ended in a tie, with the project to span South Africa, Australia and New Zealand.
The announcement was made this evening by the SKA Organisation's board, which had gathered in The Netherlands.

Have you had a good look at just what is in the Northern Hemisphere?? It's getting a bit crowded up there guys.

I was working with a company in 2008 -09 who were part of the initial presentation for this bid, good to see that the Tri-Nations actually got the job.

I'm not surprised it's not being sent up in the northern hemisphere. They're starting to have minor issues with orbital "junk."

It needs to be as far as possible from any radio interference (mobile phones, tv transmitters etc.), not many places like that north of the equator
