Oh fun! Here are some definitions, too. Thanks go out to Ambrose Bierce.

SCRIPTURES, n. The sacred books of our holy religion, as distinguished from the false and profane writings on which all other faiths are based.

RELIGION, n. A daughter of Hope and Fear, explaining to Ignorance the nature of the Unknowable.

DELUGE, n. A notable first experiment in baptism which washed away the sins (and sinners) of the world.

WORSHIP, n. Homo Creator's testimony to the sound construction and fine finish of Deus Creatus. A popular form of abjection, having an element of pride.

CHRISTIAN, n. One who believes that the New Testament is a divinely inspired book admirably suited to the spiritual needs of his neighbor. One who follows the teachings of Christ in so far as they are not inconsistent with a life of sin.

EVANGELIST, n. A bearer of good tidings, particularly (in a religious sense) such as assure us of our own salvation and the damnation of our neighbors.

EUCHARIST, n. A sacred feast of the religious sect of Theophagi.

FAITH, n. Belief without evidence in what is told by one who speaks without knowledge, of things without parallel.

First sentence of this post states that these definations are derived from the bible more over scriptural usage. Didn't you see the misspellings I left for you? Why not play with those like everyone else and leave the purpose of this thread to those who wish to discuss it?

I was honestly asking because I wasn't sure if it was something I hadn't heard of before. I come across new words every day.
