Hello
Just dropping in to say hi.

I'm from Ireland, I study religion and religious belief specialising in cults. Currently writing a book on the subject. I'm a theist, non-denominational, seeking to tie in all religious systems into an aboriginal Urreligion and find out what started it all off. That should be interesting to theists and non-theists alike, so I'm sure you'll enjoy what I can offer to the discussion.

Well, I won't be on this forum much, maybe every now and then during a bout of procrastination, something that is related to the book I'm supposed to be writing, yet isn't actually writing the book.

Welcome to the forums, looking forward to some interesting conversations. Smile
Personally, it's not God I dislike, it's his fan club I can't stand.

What the heck is a Catholic Omnifaith? Is that like a Catholic Universalist? Isn't that a bit like me claiming to be a Protestant Atheist? Kinda self contradictory?
I used to tell a lot of religious jokes. Not any more, I'm a registered sects offender.

Probably means he's of Catholic upbringing but considers himself more universally Christian rather than any one specific Christian variant.

Welcome! Smile

An Urreligion is a hypotheitcal aboriginal religion that humanity shared c. 10,000 BC. All religions then would be variations of this primary source.

It's the same concept of an Urheimat applied to religious belief.

Yeh sort of. I was brought up Catholic, and still am. But professionally I do believe all religions are one. Although technically Catholicism isn't a religion, it's a church...if that makes sense.

So you could say I'm all of the above when it comes to religion, as I try to tie in all faiths and find the common themes that recur throughout their texts, rituals and traditions.

RE: Hello
So would it be fair to say you are a polytheist then, if you 'believe all religions are one'...? Or do you still believe in one God yet believe all religions are one, somehow?

Yeh you probably would call it polytheism. It's better not to categorize though.

Why is it? Does the definition not suffice by your own standards? Or...?
