Finland. All I know is that I would avoid Mitt Romney like the plague, other than that, I cannot say. I do not follow your presidental campaigns well enough to make an informed assessment of who might actually be a decent president.
When I was young, there was a god with infinite power protecting me. Is there anyone else who felt that way? And was sure about it? but the first time I fell in love, I was thrown down - or maybe I broke free - and I bade farewell to God and became human. Now I don't have God's protection, and I walk on the ground without wings, but I don't regret this hardship. I want to live as a person. -Arina Tanemura

I'm with Kayeneh on this. Not well informed enough to make a decision either way. Mind you superficially I would avoid the Republicans like the plague

UK, and frankly every republican candidate frightens me at various times. By default I would vote for Obama since he scares me the least.

ron paul confuses me. when he talks, he seems to be so clear-headed and direct (actually answers questions that are asked). his stance on war and general foreign policy makes me actually clap when i hear it. as does his wanting to audit the fed reserve. but why the hell does he run as a republican? he will never be taken seriously there. also, something about him makes me wary of who he'd pick as a veep, which there's a real chance that selection could take office - i mean shit, ron paul looks about as frail as mr burns on the simpsons. before 08 debates, john mccain was sounding like a real level-headed guy. then, he fell off the deep end, started getting crazy eyes and picked "i can see russia from my backyard" as his running mate. this is what scares me about paul.
my opinion of political system has come more clear since obama took office. given paul's level of desire to change how things work in dc, i don't think he can implement what he wants. i feel like obama had all those high hopes of sea change before he got in. then realized, fuck, i may be allowed to do a few of my little projects, but the majority of the time, i'll do as i'm told. same thing if ron paul were to get in. not much will change.

Ron Paul and his fuck-all states rights bullshit would have areas of our country legalizing pot and others legalizing open season on gays.
Federalism has it's place in enforcing uniform law -- it might not have dawned on you, but equal protection (you know, what keep people from lyching blacks and gays) is a federal concept. As the DEA also is a federal organization.
I like my weed, but fuck states rights. Just another catch all term, hailing from the days of the Civil War over the States rights to keep human property.

From UK, I don't know enough about US politics to make an informed choice, from what I see they are all all a bunch of greedy, self serving power grabbers (much like our UK politicians!)

definitely, that's why i didn't mention any of his civil/domestic policies - some of which have merit and some that don't (repealing voter's rights laws of 1965 among many others). i wouldn't vote for him, i was citing how i don't think he's doing himself any favors for his own constituents, by running on the repub ticket. i just like how he prefers to keep his nose out of foreign business (that's what i gather his position is on outside affairs).
i know at a minimum, the good ol' boys would love be able to enforce separate water fountains again. that's not going to work.

The Dems won't have him because he is, at the heart of it, a fucking nut.
Quote:The central tenet of Paul's political philosophy is that "the proper role for government in America is to provide national defense, a court system for civil disputes, a criminal justice system for acts of force and fraud, and little else."
His "vision" for the US is centered about 1790-1830. A pre-industrial land where property rights are sacrosanct and people can go fuck themselves.

Obama would get my vote, he seems a well balanced intelligent man, hamstrung by the crap system you americans have.
Finally, after years of "comedy presidents" you have an actual polititian as your head of state and some people wont vote for him.
