I has 51 inch laptop monitor.

I was having a little think and decided to see if I could attach my laptop to my plasma. I could,so I did.
Works just fine, at full high definition. Have a wifi modem,so still have internet. This also means I can play any format of music or video I have,which my usb players will not.
Also hooked up an OK speaker system.
Yeah,simple enough,but I'm pleased anyway.

I use a similar setup in both my living room and mancave/bedroom, though I'm jealous of your 51 inch plasma.
Add a good wireless keyboard and mouse and you're set.

Yup,Marilyn ran for US VP .In Italy they actually elected a porn star. She continued her porn career whilst a member of parliament. Gee,I'd pay to see that happen the US.

I want that because I download/stream a lot of tv/movies through my computer. I'd love to see them on my 40-something TV.

You probably can. Most plasma and LCD TVs have had the capacity for ages.Takes about a minute. Perhaps a little awkward if you have a PC rather than a laptop. You may need to buy a longer cable. ( I didn't)
Have a look on the back of your TV or read the manual.Probably available on line if you don't have one.

I've done it before, but it's a huge pain in that ass. I have to route the picture through the TV and the sound through my sound bar (cheap TV... Picture is amazing, the sound is shit). And it's hard to get back there. I also don't have a wireless keyboard and my mouse's range is rather limited.

Ah,seems,as if you might need to upgrade to a wireless mouse and keyboard. Here a basic Logitech wireless set is $28 at an electronics chain. In the US I'll bet Walmart has some cheap ones. Of course you can always buy one on line.

I actually joined in 1998,when I grasped the potential of the microchip, buying my first PC in 1999. I watched the IT revolution unfold.
I moved the set up from the lounge to my bedroom,where I have a smaller plasma (only 50 inches). I can use the keyboard and mouse sitting up in bed. Next thing is to see if I can can get a remote to see if I can turn on the laptop without getting out of bed.
Not sure if the graphics card on the laptop is good enough for most games, I don't think so.
