Some of you might know that over the weekend, a leap second caused several websites to go down: http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/technology-18672173
Well, I thought we were doing fine until I noticed DarwinBot (the chatroom bot) was being very slow. I logged onto the server and found the MySQL (our database) process hogging almost all of the cpu's (and we have four of them). I killed the process, and restarted it, but the same thing started happening.
Anyway, I looked around the internet and found that this was a common problem people were having, but luckily there was an easy fix, which I applied and all is well again.
Apologies for the few minutes of downtime!
