Has the land and spirit lake fully recovered yet?

Dang, there are a lot of stratovolcanoes in your area. Confused

And of course Yellowstone is far too close to you for comfort, of course, it doesn't matter where you live in the world if that sucker were ever to erupt.

No, and it likely won't for a long time. The area around the blast zone was formerly old-growth forest, and much of it is still a wasteland. As far as Spirit Lake, it's difficult to think of it as the same lake, really.

With that being said, it has improved quite a bit. I climbed St. Helens in the early 90's and viewed the blast zone from the south crater rim. Back then, it was as desolate as the surface of the moon. Today, life is returning but it's still got a very long way to go before the landscape looks anything like it did.

I've got some photos of the blast zone from 20 or so years ago, if I can find them, I'll see about scanning and posting them. I think the ex may have them though.

Heh. Yeah, "close" being a 16 hour drive away. Not nearly far enough away to not be completely fucked if it goes.

I about have myself convinced that I would prefer to be at ground zero for that one rather than struggle with what will follow.

That's quite alright thank you, I don't mind if you can't get them and I wouldn't ask you to if you're on bad terms with your ex.

I think you've seen enough exploding volcanoes for one day. Big Grin
