"Sins committed while still inside the womb"?

What kind of seriously screwed up mind comes up with dreck like this? And what kind of "sins" could someone possibly commit while in the womb? Talk about throwing reason out the window!

God allowed 200,000 people to die in an earthquake. So what makes you think he cares about YOUR problems?

That is super fucked up.
Even if the open windows of science at first make us shiver after the cozy indoor warmth of traditional humanizing myths, in the end the fresh air brings vigor, and the great spaces have a splendor of their own - Bertrand Russell

Nobody likes to be tricked or deceived but the church doesn't do that to anyone.

By "the church" I can only assume you mean the building, otherwise things like this would make you either deceiver or deceived:

Church of England Pays Out After Child Sex and Drug Abuse Scandal - Press Release

Makes a change from Ratzinger's mafia, I suppose, but those little white collars can't be accused of being untarnished.
At the age of five, Skagra decided emphatically that God did not exist.  This revelation tends to make most people in the universe who have it react in one of two ways - with relief or with despair.  Only Skagra responded to it by thinking, 'Wait a second.  That means there's a situation vacant.'

Huge difference. Many churches have scandal of their own and that's natural. There's scandal everywhere. But only the RC church has a systemic coverup that extends to making the child victim swear an oath of secrecy on pain of excommunication and enjoining all parties to keep secret everything and not to report to the authorities.

Before we all get spiralling off down the Yellow Brick Road, let's just review:

Let's keep it in focus that we're not discussing whether there are coverups of abuse scandals, which I would hope we can all agree there are; the issue at hand is that such abuse takes place at all.

To put it another way:

I still find it suspicious that greneknight didn't answer the actual question. I didn't ask "Does the church building diddle you?"

I asked: "Do you LIKE getting diddled?"

Your silence on this question is very telling, my friend.

That's not what I said. You must quote me in full and not cut up my single sentence and present only one portion. This is what I said:

"Nobody likes to be tricked or deceived but the church doesn't do that to anyone."

I thought he meant I liked to be deceived by the church. So I wrote that.

The reason I only presented the portion of your quote that I did was not out of any attempts to deliberately mislead but because I was under the impression that was the relevant portion. If I received or gave the wrong impression I apologise. I didn't realise you were being self-referential, since your reply looked to follow from the question of being "diddled", which in the context of its use appeared to refer to child molestation rather than in the sense of "fiddling" or "deceiving".

A case of cross-purposes, methinks.
