No Olympics in 3D for me.

No Olympics in 3D for me.
The set now in my bedroom is a Samsung 3D,about 6 months old. It only cost $1200.

Yesterday I tuned in to Chanel 9 3D test broadcast for the Olympics. What I saw was 2 screens, side by side. Shortly, there was a message saying '"only specific sets can decode decode the signal" . What's with that?

Later that day,I was in a shopping centre and noticed the test on in a TV store. The set was an LG and the picture was perfect.

My set has only an on/off 3D setting (you cannot choose 3D mode) and picks up the signal automatically. Works spiffingly on Bluray 3D

I'm confused. (the 3D glasses I have came with the set and are just dandy)

I was looking forward to seeing the ice skating and gymnastics in 3D.

Take it back to the store and get your money back. Clearly Samsung do not make very good 3D TVs...

Bluray is a different mode. With most Samsung 3D TV's when you press the 3D button you get a message screen. Press the OK button again and you should get an option screen with 3 options. No promises though....

Fixed.

I made an incorrect assumption: The TV picks up Bluray DVD automatically. I ASSUMED it would pick up 3D broadcasts the same way; it doesn't

I turned on the set and tuned to the 3D transmission. Then opened the menu and wen to '3d' .Turned it on. That brought up mode options. Selected 'side-by-side' and BINGO! El Spiferisimo!

Samsung make very good 3D Tvs. They simply didn't allow for my ignorance and impatience.
