Movies That Should Have Been Epic

RE: Movies That Should Have Been Epic
The remakes of 'A Nightmare on Elm Street' with Jackie Earle Haley as the new Freddy Kruger and 'The Wolfman' with Benicio Del Toro and Anthony Hopkins. I knew the Wolfman remake was going to be messed up after it was reported that the movie went through three different directors. I did like the throw back to Lon Chaney's portrayal of the Wolfman though.

The whole story line on Freddy Kruger's beginings was a complete disappointment. I would like to have seen the remake expand on the opening scene from the original where Freddy was making his knifed glove in what appears to be a boiler room.

Yeah, I've not seen the Elm Street 'reboot' (such a pretentious word for remake) since what I have seen of it, trailers and photos and whatnot, were decidedly underwhelming. I thought Haley almost had the right sort of face to carry it off but how can you beat a class act like Robert Englund? (Incidentally, when I first saw an ELm Street film, Freddy's Revenge for the record, I had troulble seeing Englund as anything other than Willy from V; now it's the other way round). I don't think it's too controversial to say that the Elm Street franchise went careering off the rails as it went on, probably way past its welcome, but the original concept stands up there with classic movie monsters such as Dracula, Adam (the Frankenstein Monster) and the Mummy.
At the age of five, Skagra decided emphatically that God did not exist.  This revelation tends to make most people in the universe who have it react in one of two ways - with relief or with despair.  Only Skagra responded to it by thinking, 'Wait a second.  That means there's a situation vacant.'

I remember Robert Englund on V. I enjoyed that series. It's still shown from time to time in reruns on the Sci Fi channel. I agree with you. The original Nightmare on Elm Street is a horror flick that rates among the classics. But as you pointed out the sequels didn't match up anywhere close to the original. Although, 'Dream Warriors', the third in the series, wasn't too bad.

One that I thought was pretty interesting for a zombie movie was 'Dod Sno', or 'Dead Snow'. Has anyone else seen it? Seems it may be growing to a cult classic.

I've actually got that one at home, well actually I borrowed it, but I just haven't been in the right frame of mind for seeing it. It looks interesting from the cover but then a lot of them do. Maybe I'll get round to it one day.

I've alway felt that "Plan 9 from outer space" was hugely underrated.

Only movie I've ever watched that made me angry while stoned.

It was just so damn... offensively... stupid.

The movies are usually made by the asylum.
