I forget who first said this, so feel free to attribute it to me if you like, but there is a theory that religious leaders and preachers like this get to live such long lives is because 'God' wants to put off having to have the gits under his feet for as long as possible.
At the age of five, Skagra decided emphatically that God did not exist.  This revelation tends to make most people in the universe who have it react in one of two ways - with relief or with despair.  Only Skagra responded to it by thinking, 'Wait a second.  That means there's a situation vacant.'

Well, so much for being the messiah, completing Jesus' unfinished work, as he says.
Such things are actually not new. In East Asia, such movements inspired by Christianity were known to cause rebellions, one such famous rebellion being directed against the Manchu Qing Dynasty, with the rebels letting their hair grow long, unlike the Qing who enforced the queue hairstyle.

I believe it was due to his polygamist practices(that stemmed from his heretical teachings), yes?

He was killed during a power struggle. All churches are ultimately about "power" you know.

Looks like churches are a lot like businesses. After a time the founder is fired by the board of executives.

RE: Good Riddance
Most? I would hazard ALL religions/ "Churches" are businesses and hence should be taxed!

I think there are a few left that neither tithe nor solicit donations, Kichi, but I agree with you.
