I'm sure a lot of people believe in things PETA advocates, but not the group as a whole. Like I agree with some socialist ideas, but I'm a socialist.

Oh come on now! There isn't much more pleasure in life than sitting by the fire, body wrapped in fresh baby seal fur, roasting some freshly beaten baby seal meat.
I mean really, the beating is nessasary to tenderize the meat.
Damned seal huggers....
I used to tell a lot of religious jokes. Not any more, I'm a registered sects offender.

It's cruel to kill baby seals, when there are so many surplus human babies.
About 40 years ago I actually touched some seal pelts in a furrier's.It remains the softest material I have ever felt, it was amazing. So, I understand on one level.
BUT-----
I abhor gratuitous cruelty to any living thing, for any reason. I also reject the killing of animals soley for their fur or hide as immoral, including reptiles. I have no problem with the idea of hide as a by product of animals killed humanely for food.. I despise the killing of animals for pleasure.

Personally, it's not God I dislike, it's his fan club I can't stand.

I think this is the morally dubious part of eating meat (which I do, by the way).
You're quite right in an earlier post that we are animals at the top of the food chain, however morally I can't justify deliberately causing the suffering of another animal. The meat that we get in the supermarkets, has generally come from factory farmed animals which have often lived in less than humane conditions. By eating meat that comes from these sources, we give implicit and tacit consent to the suffering of other animals, which in my view is a lapse in morality.
By the way, I'm an avid meat eater, but also clearly a hypocrite.

Well, as far as your health concerns, relax. High-fat diets are not what cause people to grow fat. Rather, it is the low-fat, low-protein, high-carb diet that you should avoid. Incidentally (and i know I'll catch heat for this) but the cholesterol and saturated fat in meat do NOT cause any sort of disease. However, a diet low in cholesterol and saturated fat does. And I consider vegetarian/vegan diets to be quite perverse. They are also nutritionally inadequate, and incapable of being maintained outside out modern society.

Do you mean per se or at all? I doubt many would argue that SOME fat is necessary. BUT a high fat low carbohydrate diet (aka the [discredited] Atkins diet) IS harmful as far as I'm aware...
If you are arguing that a high fat diet is not harmful,I'm willing to believe you, immediately you back up the claim with evidence.By "evidence" I mean studies (plural) published in peer review journals.
This issue is very important to me as I'm currently being treated for high cholesterol and high blood pressure. I'm also pre diabetic. As well as medication,I follow a lifestyle diet recommended by a dietician. It is low in fat, sugar, and simple carbohydrates. EG I do not eat fast foods, ever.
The technical term for what I eat is called "a balanced diet".

My only problem with Meat (Red Meat) is if you do not eat a good bit of fiber (33 Grams a day to be exact) then expect your chances of colon cancer to be a bit higher.
I love a good steak, but I do try and stay away from it as much as possible. (Along with pork)....Chicken, I probably eat more than the other two... .Not that its any better, but I love meat too damn much.....lol..

What I heared does it take more energy to eat a salat then it gives. In other words, you lose energy by eating salat.
