Simmering hatred

RE: Simmering hatred
Moonman,

Confession unburden's the soul, how long has it been since your last confession?

Venting your frustrations is a great way to get those emotions out in the open. It is probably the best way to expel the poison that is inside you. There is no virtue in trying to pretend that you aren't bothered by religion and will lead to cognitive disonance that will only hurt you.

I struggle with how much to talk about being atheist. If I run around proselytizing I am going to become background noise like so many other groups that do the same. I don't really feel the need to bring people into the warm bathing light of Atheos anyway because most of them seem pretty happy where they are.

I guess the real answer would be that I should talk about being atheist as much as I talk about my hobby of not collecting stamps. There are plenty of other coo coo bird things that people believe and as long as they don't allow their beliefs to affect business or political decisions I am fine with whatever they are into.

We are basically singing from the same hymn sheet, sorry couldn´t resist. Nevertheless, I want to envision a world without this big fat lie being shoved down the necks of children. I shouldn´t have to explain to people why I choose not to christen my son. It used to be practically law in Spain to have a saint´s, or Jeebus´s name. (I met a lady last week called Adoration of Christ) I don´t want to hear church bells at twelve at night when I am up at 6. What would people say if I did something similar with a bullhorn and a book of poetry. I think it is important to voice our concerns about the role of religion in politics, whereas business and religion are synonimous of course. Mr. Obama´s campaign was sullied by racist remarks made by his pastor (I actually could relate to him, I thought he was honest) He and his predecesor along with Blair and Aznar are all devote christians. They broke a few commandments in Iraq. It´s not enough to let these people have society regress to their idea of a puritan paradise. i wish they´d stop using the word god in the inauguration speech, and, most others come to think of it. I enjoy the banter, thanks again

Quote:I don´t see any difference, sounds like a bit of a tautology.

Perhaps I should have been more precise. I was referring to spiritual beliefs, including theism, unconnected to any organisation.. I really don't care about the personal beliefs and superstitions of any given individual as long as he doesn't insist I share them.

I have only contempt for organised religions, with their hierarchy, priestcraft and obscene wealth. My observation is that once believers organise into an organisation a lot of nasty changes take place. A high moral code is replaced by a divisive dogma ,and a focus on power, wealth and social control.

I Guess I need not elaborate to an Irishman history of The Church in Ireland, the damage it's done and continues to do to Irish society. The lunacy of the recent blasphemy laws are very mild indeed ,in comparison.

OH,I'm an Aussie by birth but Irish by ethnicity: My dad's people came from Clare to south Australia in 1870. Mum's lot left Galway for Canada during The Hunger. Yes,I've been, twice,(have even kissed the Blarney stone; nearly shat meself) Last time was in 2000,I went backpacking, starting in Rosslare. Had a ball

Hey mate, on a different note! ah they just keep on coming! What about Men At Work being sued for plagiarism? Now I think that is ridiculous, even if the flute line is exactly like some kids show from the 1930´s, I mean they shaped the song and wrote the super lyrics. The feeling for the song has a little to do with the iinfantile melody but they moulded it to fit and made a hit. What about mixing musical styles and taking a bit from here and a bit from there? If it hadn´t been for these class musicians, the tune would have been forgotten forever. Now on the other hand Natalie Imbruglia blatantly ripped off some Aussie band and they won the subsequent court case, good on ´em!. She still plays the song and takes the credit for writing it because most people are ignorant of the facts. Coldplay are also being sued for bare-faced robbery from Joe Satriani, I hear they have been up to this trick since their conception. Shame on them
Moonman, I love youSmile

Why thank you Manny. It´s nice to be appreciated
