Sorry, some of us want to see that story continue. Now some of the books were horrible, others were amazing though so as far as I'm concerned his first 5 "points" do nothing but convince me it was a GOOD thing to have the EU Star Wars.

As for the last, I do see a "seen this all before" element with the comics mentioned but I've never read them so can't really speak firsthand. Still overall this guy needs to stop whining.

Actually it's an opinion, much of which I happen to share (which is the reason I decided to link it here). What you expressed is your opinion, which I respect you to have. None of us are going to have much input into whatever does finally emerge; personally I'd like to see something fresh and original, rather than rehashed fan fiction.

And my opinion is the article was a load of bantha dung. Feel free to disagree.

I've already explained how I disagree. As I also said, I respect your opinion and your right to express it. As far as I'm concerned, this is a non-issue. I'm not going to be drawn into an argument over it.

Has anyone considered the possibility that Star Wars VII could be a reboot?

So last time I saw the prequels, I was 15 and at the time thought they were relatively good. Now I'm seeing clips of them again and I can't believe how bad they were. It's like I'm seeing a bunch of video game cut scenes with B movie actors.

I'm not a Star Wars fan at all but I'd rather they just completely start over and base the new movies in a completely different era. Maybe a very early time when the humans in that galaxy were just starting to explore the galaxy in new FTL ships and coming into contact new life and strange civilizations. To boldly go... Oh wait, crap.

Just a few things worth mentioning.

1. This is the first time since 1997 that we have a decent chance of seeing original theatrical versions restored to their full glory. In fact, it's near certain that disney will release the theatrical versions in the near future on Bluray.
2. Lucas produced his drafts for Ep's VII-XII and handed them to Disney when he negotiated the sale. In fact, he even hired screenwriters to help him present a saleable product.
3. I'm pretty sure that he also liaised with Hamill, Fisher and Ford and had them all agree to reprise their roles prior to the sale to Disney. Whether Disney will use them is up to the company, but reportedly Hamill is returning.
4. Disney plans to release VII in 2015, VIII in 2017 and IX in 2019, although obviously "planned" release dates and actual release dates are two very different things.
5. Disney plans to release episodes X-XII as well, but at this stage don't have a release schedule. This is also based on the drafts Lucas supplied to Disney.
6. Lucas claimed at one point that SW was a 12-part story. Then he told everyone that it was only a six part story. Then he told Disney that it was a 12-part story.
7. It's near certain that if Disney produces the six films and they are commercially successful that they will continue to produce movies beyond Ep XII.

Yes he is, sold out to Hollywood who he hated with such a passion for over 30 years.

I would settle for a cool Star Wars themed update to the Space Mountain ride at Disney World.
