My only hope is that the Republicans have shot themselves in the foot enough times to finally appear stupid enough to a large enough mass of registered Republicans (as described above) that they vote for Obama in disgust.

Republicans don't seem to be counting on getting the vote fairly. You can fix ignorance, you can't fix stupid. Tinkety Tonk and down with the Nazis. That would work if the American electorate had a better long term memory. If something happened just a couple of months ago, we've forgotten about it by the time we go to the polls. We see a lot of that short term memory when people say all the politicians are the same; truth is, they look the same because they both have to rush to moderate positions to appeal to as many undecided voters as they can. Look at their quotes from a year ago, look at what they said/did when they wer trying to win their party nominations, and you'll see a stark contrast between the two.

Folks,
Since I joined this forum I've come to like and care about some of you, and I hope you can accept this in the spirit that it is offered. Start getting mentally prepared for an Obama loss. My read of the tea leaves (I could be wrong) is that the Obama campaign is giving off several signals that they expect to lose, and I think their strategy at this point is to act like they expect to win and emphasize any exit polls indicating an Obama win in an effort to de-legitimize a Romney win. This is pretty sick but that's what our political process is these days. If you buy into their scenario you'll just further disenfranchise yourself from mainstream america, to your detriment. You may also find this article useful on dealing with post-election disappointment. http://minnesota.cbslocal.com/2012/11/06...epression/ ![]()
No offense, but I have a hard time taking seriously, even in a joking sense, an article that can't distinguish between "where" and "were" before being published.

We shall see, Tino... We shall see... Personally, I'll just be glad to have this whole fucking farce over with already. My inner conspiracy theorist thinks that Romney bought the election months ago... I'm thinking the south won't turn out to vote for a black guy or a mormon... that was my main prediction for this election, the southern states will still go Red, but there will be a very low turnout. How about this: If Obama wins I'll buy you a bottle of booze (your choice) and if Obama loses, you buy me a bottle of booze (my choice)? Seem fair?

I think this is a terrible bet for me but I will accept it for fun and because you're a good egg. I doubt it.
