Oh, you want an answer?
In my case it is to further the cause of scientific advancement and rational enquiry into how the universe works.
And to bring people out of the darkness, fear and ignorance that religion enslaves them with.
How's that?
If you're not supposed to ride faster than your guardian angel can fly then mine had better get a bloody SR-71.

Ok simply first, I don't see it as anything more than a fairy tale and honestly it is really weird talking to people who do believe in it. Second I refuse to believe in a religion that has destroyed my people and culture in order to make me a better person. Christians try to force everyone into believing their dogma and if people don't, they demonize and punish them. People can't simply live their life's with Christians around it has to be their way or nothing else. Christians assimilate, destroy out of fear and desperation. They are worse than even the imagined borg from star trek.
Live every day as if already dead, that way you're not disappointed when you are.

You really need an education Darnem, atheism isn't a religion.
Because you think it is is indicative of why we push science and education.

- Why do you push your religion of christianity on others when there is no evidence that God does exist?
- Why do you push your religion of judaism on others when there is no evidence that Yahweh does exist?
- Why do you push your religion of muslim on others when there is no evidence that Allah does exist?
- Why do you push your religion of Hinduism on others when there is no evidence that Shiva does exist?
- Why do you push your religion of pastafarianism on others when there is no evidence that the Flying Spaghetti Monster does exist?
Do you want more?
Oh, and of course atheism is not a religion.
This is what a religion is:
http://dictionary.reference.com/browse/religion?s=t Wrote:re·li·gion [ri-lij-uhn] Show IPA
noun
1. a set of beliefs concerning the cause, nature, and purpose of the universe, especially when considered as the creation of a superhuman agency or agencies, usually involving devotional and ritual observances, and often containing a moral code governing the conduct of human affairs.
2. a specific fundamental set of beliefs and practices generally agreed upon by a number of persons or sects: the Christian religion; the Buddhist religion.
3. the body of persons adhering to a particular set of beliefs and practices: a world council of religions.
4. the life or state of a monk, nun, etc.: to enter religion.
5. the practice of religious beliefs; ritual observance of faith.
6. something one believes in and follows devotedly; a point or matter of ethics or conscience: to make a religion of fighting prejudice.
7. religions, Archaic . religious rites
8. Archaic . strict faithfulness; devotion: a religion to one's vow.
And here is what atheism is:
http://dictionary.reference.com/browse/atheism?s=t Wrote:a·the·ism [ey-thee-iz-uhm] Show IPA
noun
1. the doctrine or belief that there is no God.
2. disbelief in the existence of a supreme being or beings. Most atheists will fit into this second definition. The first is generally regarded as "anti-theism", or gnostic atheism, or strong atheism.

Because you think it is is indicative of why we push science and education. Yeah but atheists need FAITH to believe God doesn't exist, thus making Atheism a religion.

So you have two religions then, one that has faith that Zeus or Odin doesn't exist.
