It didn't do these children any good.

There are many more examples of this type of thing. The license and insurance doesn't stop car or bus nuts and dumbasses.

When I go into public I'm not usually overly concerned when I see drivers, unless it's sprinkling because everyone acts like a their being attacked by a hurricane, but if I see just one guy ( even if it's a cop) with a gun in a holster, I'm going to be keeping a close eye on him.
I'm not die hard anti-gun person, but gun owners do make me paranoid. My sister-in-law is gun fanatic and every time she gets drunk she wants to take them out to show everyone. I don't go near her if she's been drinking..it seems suicidal.

Don't forget about the mass amounts of people that love to get behind the wheel when they get drunk. They make me nervous.
There are a lot more car nuts than gun nuts.

Stop them? Of course not. And this thread contains many examples of superbly trained gun nuts who made that ONELITTLEMISTAKE. But insurance at least gives the victims some recourse and licensing may dissuade some of the least stable from bothering.
I still maintain that our economy could not survive having automobiles withdrawn from service but we could withstand an absence of guns quite well.

Oh, for fuck's sake, this thread is full of stories about untrained, uneducated, careless fuckwits.
You are purposely mischaracterizing what you present.

YOu better go back and read it again. There are plenty of tales of cops who fucked up. Are they not trained?
Let me tell you something, Chas. "Training" is a panacea argument used by people who have nothing else to say. "If only we TRAINED the Iraqi army!" We did train them. For years. They ran like rabbits. No, even trained people have accidents or make careless decisions. When they do so with guns, people die.
Now that is not the case with this nitwit below. He's your classic gun nut who thinks the 'gubmint' is out to get in.
Now he's short one wife!

I do have to give Chas this one. Cars do give guns more mobility.
