I have discussed this possibility with a southern baptist, his answer was that the bible does not explicitly say that god only placed life on earth so finding life anywhere else does nothing to disprove him/her/it.

It sure would throw a curve ball into anybody's Christology to suggest that Jesus was fully divine and fully human, Klingon, Vulcan, Andorian, etc, etc....
