Rapey vibe, you deserve it?

Rapey vibe, you deserve it?
One of our recent visitors said that he knew how to tell who was "rape" material because of what they wear and who would become the "rapist" just by watching the "World Series of Poker" on ESPN.

It would not shock me if this was the same guy who called in to this atheist TV show out of Austin. If it isn't that also would not shock me. But it is really disturbing to me that many people in many cultures still have a "blame the victim" mentality.

Notice the caller said "that girl is just as evil as you".

I watched the episode as it went out. It really makes you wonder just what kind of people are out there. It's the same mindset that keeps rapist priests in their jobs and out of prison.

The call was noticed by Raw Story: http://www.rawstory.com/rs/2013/01/08/at...girl-evil/

To which Matt responded via Facebook: "In hindsight, I wish that I'd have pointed out that I hope he realizes that he can stop being a piece of sh*t - EASILY."

and with a more graphic tribute:

At the age of five, Skagra decided emphatically that God did not exist.  This revelation tends to make most people in the universe who have it react in one of two ways - with relief or with despair.  Only Skagra responded to it by thinking, 'Wait a second.  That means there's a situation vacant.'

Long before this episode I have made the metaphor as such.

Would you pay money to see a Superman movie where Superman walks past an ally and sees a man raping a women, but waits until she gets her throat slit and bleeds out and dies, before Superman decides to step in?

Depends if the rape has its own scene.

Are you suggesting that rape is ok, if the scene is acceptable? Or do words escape you?

Rape is okay if I'm watching it. Someone has to referee.

This god as depicted doesn't even do that. Rather it (supposedly) waits for both the rapist and the victim to die and then apportions punishment, based on criteria as arbitrary as whether a person believes or not or if they confessed their 'sins'. Last August I posted a video scanned from popular and hilarious adult comic Viz on precisely this matter. Rather than repost the video and take up server space, I'll simply link back to it here.

I'm going to assume - which one should never do - that you're being satirical here. However, just on the offchance you're not, or for the benefit of some others who might actually share that view, I have to say that you're going to have to speak for yourself on that score. I find depictions of rape in any genre, porn included, really discomfiting to watch. Maybe it's just the way I'm wired, or maybe it's that I've actually had to nurse someone through the trauma of having been raped, I don't know.

ROFLOL

Way to give the fundies fuel.

Isn't bad enough they bitched about the show "Married with Children" and bitch today about South Park?

I had a former boss who made the dark joke " Prevent rape, just say yes"
