When do you plan to Convert to Christanity?

(February 3, 2013 at 8:12 am)Zone Wrote: You're a true Christian if you believe in the Nicene Creed which is this.

"We believe in one God,
the Father, the Almighty,
maker of heaven and earth,
of all that is, seen and unseen.
We believe in one Lord, Jesus Christ,
the only Son of God,
eternally begotten of the Father,
God from God, light from light,
true God from true God,
begotten, not made,
of one Being with the Father;
through him all things were made.
For us and for our salvation
he came down from heaven,
was incarnate of the Holy Spirit and the Virgin Mary
and became truly human.
For our sake he was crucified under Pontius Pilate;
he suffered death and was buried.
On the third day he rose again
in accordance with the Scriptures;
he ascended into heaven
and is seated at the right hand of the Father.
He will come again in glory to judge the living and the dead,
and his kingdom will have no end.

We believe in the Holy Spirit, the Lord, the giver of life,
who proceeds from the Father [and the Son],
who with the Father and the Son is worshiped and glorified,
who has spoken through the prophets.
We believe in one holy catholic and apostolic Church.
We acknowledge one baptism for the forgiveness of sins.
We look for the resurrection of the dead,
and the life of the world to come. Amen."

So, are you claiming Yeshua commanded the belief in this crap?

John 14:20-21
New International Version (NIV)

20 On that day you will realize that I am in my Father, and you are in me, and I am in you. 21 Whoever has my commands and keeps them is the one who loves me. The one who loves me will be loved by my Father, and I too will love them and show myself to them.”

.

Christianity has pagan roots, virgin births and resurrections from the dead after three days at Easter isn't exactly entirely exclusive to Christianity. It was based on the phases of the moon and the seasons of the year, the annual renewal of life.

You can't mix paganism and Chritianity and still call it Chistianity.

Exactly. You are not a Christian.
I don't mind you saying that you are a christian, lower case c, just like Jehovah's Witnesses call themselves christians. Take bits of the Bible all you like. Personally I think it's all valid. Different perspectives and ideas are always good.

I'm a Christian, you have nothing to say about it.

No it was decided by a council to distinguish "true" Christianity from the heretics. It still stands as the definition of orthodox Christianity today, if you believe something else different the Nicene Creed Christians won't consider you as belonging to their club.

imo Christianity is a mixture of Judaism and classical paganism. All common the themes and elements you would expect to see in a pagan myth are right there. It's almost by the numbers, this was even mentioned by opponents to Christianity right from the start. It's most likely a product of the pagan Mysteries but one that was adapted for Jews so they could join in. The eating of the bread that represents the body of the god and the drinking of the wine that represented the blood was a big part of the Mysteries. The initiate would take on the properties of the god by ingesting them into their own body and so attaining some kind of cosmic awareness.

That is correct. You seem to understand that far better than our friend here.
Or to see it from his POV, he has it right and the majority are wrong. He may indeed be right. I don't know his logical arguments, and getting those from him seems to be an impossible task.

We all believe we believe the "proper and correct" version of whatever belief system claim to adhere to. But if you want to be accepted by mainstream Christianity and not be denounced as a heretic or "not a true Christian" then you have to adhere to the Nicene Creed. You can't really join a steam locomotive enthusiasts club and not be interested in trains, that's just how it works. Members of the club get to decide whos in and who out, if you're interested is in diesel engines for instance that won't cut it, it has to be steam powered with coal.

I don't desire glory and honor from men. They obviously don't read the bible or they would agree with that sentiment.
