Proof That the Bible Isn't the Word of God

RE: Proof That the Bible Isn't the Word of God
It's accepted by all well educated Christians and Jews that Moses didn't write the first five books of the Old Testament/Torah himself anyway there isn't really any debate on this. Nor where the gospels of Matthew, Mark, Luke and John written by the authors in question.

Every Christian on here thinks otherwise. It's apparently what they call "Biblically based Christianity" where you're allowed to believe in the ideal scenario for the Bible despite the evidence contained within the Bible.

Apologetics is a most noble endeavour, you see.

The Pentateuch was clearly referring to events that had happened in the past seeing as it refers to the nation of Israel which wouldn't have existed at that point and it also details the death of Moses. Also differing there are versions of the commandments. Moses would have remembered what he wrote on those stone tablets, or would have been able to check them again if he didn't. It doesn't even say Moses wrote it anyway so there's no reason to think he did.

I don't think I've ever had a discussion with you before catfish. How ironic that our first one is about me ignoring our apparent discussions...

You must be a Christian Wink

You said "Every Christian on here thinks otherwise." That is untrue unless you can prove I'm not a Christian... (I challenge you to try)

Let's cut to the chase; you're a Christian and you admit the Bible is mostly written by anonymous authors, it has been heavily edited, the NT was cherry picked into existence and there are countless contradictions. Am I right so far?

Quote:But again if we are quoting other people's thoughts we were bound to what they think. so I ask are we limited by Mr. Paine's imagination or version of reason? If yes then I can not say anything more that what the rebuttle provides. As per your fine example.

No, we are not bound by his reasoning. His argument is independent of himself because it isn't based on opinion, but on what's found in the Bible. Moses' 3rd person account of his own death... ...honestly, why bother!

Good to see your allowed to think past Mr.paine's ablity to reason. If this is truly the case I would ask you, why or how Could have moses' death be recorded in the book he was said to author? Who oh, Who could have came right after moses, had the same power and authority to command the Jews, Who was a considered a Cheif preist (which allowed him to write or add to scripture) that felt the need to record the Death of Moses?
Thinking

Could it be Aaron his brother? The Man who Lead israel into the promised land?

Where does Mr. Paine's 'reasoning' Fail? He like most of you take the modern english understanding of a word, and forces that defination onto a time culture and translation of a word that does not always seamlessly fit. when their is a descrepence he identifies "a failure in reasoning." This is only partially true. their is a failure, in his ablity to reason or understand the differences between the culture he uses as an absolute standard, and the culture he is examining and tring to make it fit to his standard.

"Authorship" was not used as it is now. An Author was the lead contributor to a given work, not the man who wrote the work. The one who wrote said work was often times just a simple scribe or a series of scribes. That is why it is sometimes hard to identify authors of unlabled works. The scribe was not one who took dictation. He learned of a precept from an apstole or prophet and then in his own words wrote it down. (This is not the same process of transscribing scripture) Which each letter was carfully and painstakingly reproduced.

If Mr. Paine studied the Hebrew culture to any degree he would have understood that the Hebrew communit as a whole know that Moses was only the lead contributor to the Pentaeuch. For it is in their verbal tradition that not only Aaron finish out the book of Genesis but Abraham Issac Jacob may have supplied various parts of the book Moses simply compiled the accounts into a book of "orgins" which is what the title means.

Yes, let's...

Once you either correct your error or prove that "every Christian" thinks otherwise, I'll answer your deflection...
