Hannover is a portcity in the north of Germany, which is also the seat of the company "Bahlsen", which produces cookies and other sweets.
Their trademark since 1891 has been their (in Germany famous) "Butterkeks" which looks like this:

And due to the fackt that the company has been successfull for such a long time and has been practicaly part the cities identety.
A artist built a commemorating artwork which also included a scuplture made out of bronze covered with plated gold resembling the trademark cookie.
A few weeks ago it was stolen.

And following the theft the company stated it would give a 1000 euro reward to whoever finds the "golden cookie".
Shortly after which a letter arrived at the companies headquater, the police and at several pressoutlets. It included a letter made out of cut out newspaper letters and a foto:
