It seemed to me that the board only showed the last five new posts, which was a bit of a limitation but all of a sudden there seem to be more than 5.

Can I control this parameter...somehow...or does the software just do what it likes?

Only way I can think of off hand to get that is one of the buttons below your name up near the top of the page. 'View new posts/Today's posts" might have that kind of an effect and it's possible to click em instead of the "Atheist forums" link.

"View new posts" only shows you new posts since your last session, and it refreshes quite often, so you might miss some.

"View today's posts" shows you all threads that have had new posts with the last 24 hours.

So if you've just logged on, "View new posts" would be the best bet, but if you have been browsing the site for a while, it might not show anything old, so "View today's posts" is better.
