SimCity Release

Apparently SimCity is so horrendously buggy, overloaded and ill-architected that for the first time in industry history it has been yanked from active marketing.

Every other preceding event that suffered a similar class of woes that SimCity has experienced merely rectifies their issues in a week.

Personally, I'll keep the one prior to this steaming pile of shit.

"Social this and social that", "lack of micromanagement", "you can't be disconnected from the internet for more than a few minutes or else the game ends", etc,.

It currently is the worst rated game in Amazon history.

Amazon also includes a warning over Sim City services.

I've never played any in the series, but have been interested in trying. Won't be buying this one, though. Perhaps an earlier one.

Requiring an internet connection for single-player play = bonehead move.

I'm not a gamer. I've never owned an X-box or a Playstation. However, I am a huge fan of the Sim City franchise for the PC.

RollerCoaster Tycoon and this new SimCity will no doubt be the only games I will play for the next few years. I'm a dork that way.

Anyway, the new SimCity is coming out tomorrow and I was wondering if I'm the only nerd who likes to build fake cities and buildings?

I LOVE to build fake cities and buildings BUT, Sim city is one of the games i haven't played with this sort of theme. Most of the games i like aren't popular.
My favorites are civilization call to power (not a popular choice of all the civilization games) i love everything about this game.
Constructor, I doubt anyone will remember this one, you could control the mafia and local psychopaths and stuff.
I also liked theme park.

Are you ready for the fire? We are firemen. WE ARE FIREMEN! The heat doesn’t bother us. We live in the heat. We train in the heat. It tells us that we’re ready, we’re at home, we’re where we’re supposed to be. Flames don’t intimidate us. What do we do? We control the flame. We control them. We move the flames where we want to. And then we extinguish them.

Impersonation is treason.

This is why I will never buy a game with such a dubious "feature", or anything else from the producer for that matter.

Blizzard, Ubisoft, and EA won't see another dime from me while they produce such crap. (And guess what, assholes? I don't pirate games either.)

RE: SimCity Release
I started playing Simcity when it looked like THIS, son:

I remember playing Dullsville and making it a huge city... <3

That...that game, right there. That...it was my childhood. It was the first game I played. EVER. I owned a PC before I owned an SNES. And the game that came with Windows 95 was Simcity Classic. First game I ever played. I have played almost every single last one of Maxis's games ever since. I play the hell out of Simcity 4 sometimes even to this day. And so when I heard this game was coming out, I was hysterically hyped. I've seen review since then and heard the stories...and now...

...I realize that EA finally did it. They're destroyed the last bit of my childhood. They destroyed every other piece. They destroyed Ultima. They destroyed Command and Conquer. They raped The Sims. They started fucking over DICE. They destroyed Bullfrog and the Theme series of games. They canceled the STRIKE series. The one thing they hadn't destroyed...was the first part of my childhood.

And now...now they've finally destroyed this series too.

Ah well...it was gonna happen sooner or later, huh...?

I was in my highschool's business academy & we got to play that version of SimCity during one class period for about a week as an introduction to resource management.

So let me get this straight ...
You can't play single player on the new SimCity without being online???

If that's true, that SUCKS!
