Same sex Marriage in New Zealand
April 17, 2013 at 11:38 am
A bit of good news.
Quote:New Zealand's parliament has legalised same-sex marriage, the first country in the Asia-Pacific region to do so.
Lawmakers approved the bill, amending the 1955 marriage act, despite opposition from Christian lobby groups.
The bill was passed with a wide majority, with 77 votes in favour and 44 against.
Hundreds of jubilant gay-rights advocates celebrated outside parliament after the bill was passed, calling it a milestone for equality.

We now await God's judgment to fall upon the Kiwis.
Perhaps a tsunami this time? A devastating series of earthquakes? A Justin Bieber concert?
For the Lord is a God of wrath and vengeance!

Hmmm, a 6.8 earthquake occurred in New Guinea.
Perhaps god is triangulating on those evil gay New Zealanders?
Oh wait -- that was 19 hours ago. Maybe it's a precursor of the Wrath and Vengeance yet to be Inflicted!

New Zealand is the 13th nation to demonstrate to the world that American exceptionalism is mythical.

What I find interesting is that the economic, growth and productivity impacts (ie the main conservative cultural values, and the backbone of a thriving society) are never talked about by proponents of same-sex marriage. Instead they talk about social justice - in a time when social justice is doing very poor in western countries. If it is truly a social justice issue, it cannot be a most important one.
So it makes me sad that people can get so emotional with politics that they forgoe thinking about conservative values which strengthen society and are blinded by idealistic goals and "feel good" agendas.
