Atheism, what led you?
Whether your an atheist or agnostic etc, what led you to what you believe in today? Also, why do you believe in what you believe in?

Quote:atheist or agnostic
There's no 'or' only 'and'
A/Gnostic is an application of knowledge.
A/Theism is an application of belief/disbelief.

I don't believe there's a God. Maybe there is, but I don't see why I should believe something that there is no evidence for/reason to believe exists.
As for what I believe in... With regards to what?

To total bullshit and hypocrisy of the religious to be honest.

Facepalm

How many times does this have to be repeated: Atheism is not a belief its the rejection of a belief (god or gods).

Well, I've always been an agnostic atheist.
I imagine you just believe in one god, yeah? Well, I, like you, don't believe in thousands upon thousands of gods, but I just go that one god further. It is all the same to me... God, unicorns, Gork and Mork... all just fictional. There is absolutely no reason to think otherwise.

And if atheism is a fucking belief......

THEN WHERE ARE MY FUCKING TAX EXEMPTIONS, ELITIST POSITIONS IN THE HALLS OF POWER AND PROTECTIONISM OF FREEDOM OF THIS SO CALLED RELIGION?

RE: Atheism, what led you?
Being an atheist doesn't require me to believe in anything, nor do I because of that.

As for considering myself a secular humanist I believe e.g. that helping others out will yield the greatest benefit for all mankind. Do you spot the difference?
When I was young, there was a god with infinite power protecting me. Is there anyone else who felt that way? And was sure about it? but the first time I fell in love, I was thrown down - or maybe I broke free - and I bade farewell to God and became human. Now I don't have God's protection, and I walk on the ground without wings, but I don't regret this hardship. I want to live as a person. -Arina Tanemura

I believe maintaining a healthy weight, eating properly and exercising are beneficial. Evidence: my cholesterol dropped well within safe zone. Also, chicks think I'm hot. Poor things....

I believe many politicians are corrupt. Evidence: read any newspaper, anywhere, anytime.

I believe cigarette smoking is bad for you. Evidence: cancer sucks.

I believe I'm the most handsome boy in my class. Evidence: my Mom tells me so.

I believe stories about the supernatural, gods, demons, witches, djins, boojums, spirits, flying horses, Jewish zombie reanimation, evil galactic warlords and what not are nothing more than the output of an overactive imagination. Evidence: well that would be up to the story tellers, wouldn't it?

Never believed, saw no reason to change.

You can fix ignorance, you can't fix stupid.

For me, I think it was the fact that god doesn't exist.
