Hitchens often brought up the subject of annihilation in debates, and often referred to the unwillingness to face the void as, "boyish." I'm inclined to agree. The comfort offered by theism is no different than lying to a dying child, telling them they're going to be ok. Falsehoods don't bring me any comfort.

While I'm willing to face it, it is depressing. And anyone who isn't depressed by the utter hopelessness that is the fate of the human race hasn't thought about it enough. That being said, it would seem that making our own meaning in life is the best we've got.
