I'm gonna miss his egregiously lengthy, sleep-inducing bore-fest discussions with Statler-Waldorf.

He wasn't just copy/pasting his own stuff. He's been copy/pasting articles off other websites as well.
We've been getting multiple reports about him for a while now, but despite giving him verbal warnings numerous times, he's just ignored us completely.

Meh, It can't be all that hard to stay within the rules enough to keep from being banned..I'm still here. Plenty of people who take every opportunity to advance their POV are still here......I think it's probably pretty difficult to get banned from this forum. You have to really want it..lol.

What I read didn't seem to constitute spamming, but it's always a judgment call. I would hope he wasn't banned because some of his views were repugnant.
Does this forum have the concept of a quarantine/time out for those who transgress but have the potential to behave themselves?

OMG CLICK HERE FOR FREE CATZ!!! sense. He regularly posted links to his website, and copy/pasted a number of articles which we aren't necessarily allowed to publish here. When he did copy/paste stuff, he often did it in a manner which left a load of extraneous information in, like "By Haaretz | May.08, 2013 | 4:01 AM" which you get if you just click, drag, and copy off news sites.
He also created a thread in which he pasted PMs without properly formatting them, meaning they didn't show up as anything but a mess. We sent him numerous PMs about all of this, and I don't recall ever getting a response from him about it.
All of it combined makes a case for banning him, especially as he didn't appear to care about the rules and changing how he posted. If people think we were too harsh, we'll look into it and possibly reduce it to a warning.
As Rhythm said, we used to have the Gauntlet, but since hardly anyone sent there started behaving, it was deemed pointless. Most offenders seemed to think it was funny.

Ultimately a forum is a benign dictatorship or oligarchy. You folks run it; you make the call.
If after repeated warnings a member can't follow your rules, you do what you think is best.
My "vote" though would be a ban for a period of time or a warning, especially (as in this case) for a long term member.
