Considering there is absolutely no evidence that supports a deity exists, I would consider your scenario to be on par with spiritual theism and false.

Even though I don't see enough evidence to leap to the belief that there is a god out there that doesn't resemble anything that mankind has invented so far, I do think it's much more probable of a scenario than some violent, vengeful deity that will send you to eternal punishment if you don't acknowledge his existence and authority, even if you live a virtuous life.

You have a point, in that we cannot disprove the existence of a god, but we can't prove it either. No one can know that there is/isn't a god although many people will claim that they know. The evidence we have goes against any deity depicted in any religion. But we cannot claim that there is no god because we don't exactly know how the universe started.

It seems like your pretty much a deist. Belief that there is a higher power (possibly undefined) that created the natural world and then left it to it's own devices. And that's basically it. Not my cup of tea, but I'll put it over organized religion any day.

Deism was a useful doctrine for the late 18th century. Jesus was obviously horseshit but science had not yet come up with a better idea than some silly-assed "creator."
