How would a woman get an emergency abortion if they shut down all the clinics that provide that service?

They are not shutting all the clinics but telling them to upgrade.

Which is something most of them wouldn't be able to afford to do.

You just keep on bullshitting yourself.

I don't think you quite understand the scope of what happened yesterday.
Now, they can enact whatever the fuck they please and, oh yeah, you get to drag it through the courts after the fact. Big fucking deal.

Yeah, I noticed. I posted the original message in that short little window where we all thought it had passed. It's a really strange story: there was a filibuster that the senate killed and they voted on the bill. They had to pass the bill before midnight for it to become law a the bill was voted on at about 12:02 AM. I'm glad it got shot down, but I can't help but think this is only going to be temporary.

You know, even if it did pass, it wouldn't put an end to abortion. Just to abortion done in a safe and sterile environment by people who know what they're doing.

They've learned from their success at the Battle of Acorn.

Win by any means necessary. Lie, cheat and steal. Sure, it'll go to the courts but by then, the targeted organization is dead so it's all moot anyway.

If you can't ban abortion, just force all the clinics to shut down. Whether by over-regulation, harassment of the patients or terrorizing the doctors, if you destroy all the clinics, you've achieved a defacto ban.

I think this is a key point. It's not as if no one ever had abortions before they were legal. Outlawing abortion will not stop it. We'll just go back to the days of bathroom stalls and rusty coat hangers.

But that's the GOP for you. I think instead of referring to them as conservatives, we should just call them anti-pragmatism.

The term "Kochsuckers" is more appropriate.

You have something against cocksuckers? Some of my best friends are cocksuckers.

Let's not turn something to be celebrated and turn it into something vile. Big Grin
