Or allocate a finite amount directed towards insuring the most common requirements for healthcare such that special cases aren't nearly as common?

Not to mention, a healthy population is bound to be more productive, thus generating more revenue for funding its own public healthcare.

I think the whole problem with the healthcare issue in America is just that some people are willing to care for their fellow man, and some aren't. It's really the "spirit of being American", being naturally inclined on self-interest and hoarding of wealth, and not parting with it.
In short, I think this is more of a social issue than an economic one, the society needs to change, and economic policies can soon follow.

...not even doctors? Hardy har har, I bet you also think non-profit organizations don't pay their workers since they don't make any money.
"Sisters, you know only the north; I have traveled in the south lands. There are churches there, believe me, that cut their children too, as the people of Bolvangar did--not in the same way, but just as horribly. They cut their sexual organs, yes, both boys and girls; they cut them with knives so that they shan't feel. That is what the Church does, and every church is the same: control, destroy, obliterate every good feeling. So if a war comes, and the Church is on one side of it, we must be on the other, no matter what strange allies we find ourselves bound to."

Preventative care can save, both money and time.
So universal availability of reasonable (as defined by pragmatic policy analysis) preventive medical care is good policy.
Just as pragamtic policy analysis could define what social resource should be available for your medical care, so pragmatic policy analysis could demand a reduction in the same when circumstances change.
So availability of medical care is not a right, and changes to that availability that would not be considered an infringment of your rights, nor would such require a supreme court reinterpretation of what is your right.
"Right" is as always the enemy of optimality.

Conservatives, lol, because if doctors were paid 15 instead $50/hour they would not heal anyone or they would go somewhere else...
I seem to remember a southern congressman insisting that teachers didn't need raises because if they were paid more they would be tempted to do all sorts of nefarious things.
Apparently this doesn't apply to congressmen, doctors, lawyers, and insurance company CEO's.

I appreciate you defending me.
But I am a big boy who can take care of himself
But still, thank you.
I would like to point out that one of the most importent type of empolyee in a medicare system are nurses.
Everyone keeps talking about doctors and ignores that nurses are by far the higher percentege of employed people in a hospital.
Where I live they get their guaranteed payroll in state owned hospitals, yet there have been various scandals about dumbing wages and illegaly employing foreigners in privat owned hospitals.
How is the US doing on that? Considering that private insurance companies are proven to save money when it comes to the health of the patient, I wouldnt be suprised if they wouldnt give a damn about the wellbeing of those so often ignored employees.
And my final bottom line:
Every political debate about completly abolishing a state owned social medicale care system has ended with the question:
So how much money is a human life and human health worth?
Considering that everyone here is talking about money and not about the necessety of having a healthy society, I guess you have already figured that out and know the answere.
So how much is it worth?
