Hello; new member from Los Angels, Ca area.

I recently joined this forum today and figured I'd put in a "hello" post. I'm a 57 year old white guy in the San Fernando Valley area of Los Angeles, Ca. I've lived in the "southland" all my life and consider myself open-minded. Growing up I was put through the religion routine by my folks, relatives, friends etc to the point where I absolutley hated organized religion. Hated going to church. Could not grasp the whole religion thing. All my adult life, or at least since I turned 18, I never went to church nor had a desire to "explore my spiritual side" as the believers say. At this stage in my life, I really know that I'm an atheist. There, I said it......kinda like coming out of the closet. It shouldn't have to feel or be that way but it does. On well, enough for now. I'll post more in the near future.

There certainly is plenty of proof that people find the idea of atheism repellant. I am just glad that I live in Oregon right near Portland. This area is at least a little more open minded than many other places in the U.S.

The 'couv is where people go when they want to avoid sales AND property tax! Live in 'couv shop in Portland. The only reason I go to the 'couv is for super high def movies at Cinetopia! I love the ultraleather seats and lazy boy style in the living room theaters, plus having a beer while watching a movie is always nice. I marvel at how affordable their espresso drinks are. I haven't tried their wine tasting yet, and probably won't. They have wines there that cost over 9 dollars an ounce! ouch!

@ Rhizo I think I heard that in the near future that there will be a cinetopia near washington square in Oregon, I like movies from cinetopia, I have gone there with as few friends.

Yeah, in the progress area off Cascade I think. It will be across Scholls Ferry road from Washington Square Mall. I can't wait! I won't have to drive all the way to the 'couv to watch effects laden movies. You see, I don't go to Cinetopia unless the movie is effects driven. For example, you don't need high def to appreciate "Good Will Hunting".

I saw the new Star Trek at Cinetopia with a glass of wine I had never been there before, very nice. I'll have to go back. And I've been known to jump across the river to Jantzen Beach avoid sales tax from time to time
