I don't seem to see any way to send private message to a member of this forum. How is it done? Or is it as long as it appears by composing a message and addressing the member?

Click the Private Message button on top and then select the "compose" option when the page opens.
Alternatively you can click the PM button at the bottom of any post by the person you wish to contact, or visit their profile page and click "Send [username] a private message".
